Rather than moving your story to an abrupt (and inappropriate!) quick ending, you're opening your story up for Volume II (of 4? 5?). There's SO MUCH territory that you still can\/need to cover before this mystery will be anywhere near ready to conclude, it seems to me.
\n
\nSo, yes: do find some time during the summer to write more, if this is possible. The wiki isn't going anywhere, and I get notified when anyone posts. I'll look forward to reading more and learning who this mysterious Croatian gentleman is--and who inside the house could possibly be doing such horrible things to beautiful Georgiana.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"25101669","dateCreated":"1276180650","smartDate":"Jun 10, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Misterfischer","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Misterfischer","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1259541818\/Misterfischer-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bhsnovellas.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/25101669"},"dateDigested":1532128362,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Wednesday's post","description":"Aha! Following the tradition, a mysterious, dark, probably Eastern European stranger arrives in the midst of this conventional British home and provides an air of mystery, suggesting that dark forces are at play! Love it.

\nThings are getting very complicated now, and very interesting for this reason. Things are getting tangled, and this gives you a chance to untangle them in the next several posts.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"24995877","dateCreated":"1275918486","smartDate":"Jun 7, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Misterfischer","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Misterfischer","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1259541818\/Misterfischer-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bhsnovellas.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/24995877"},"dateDigested":1532128362,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Weekend post","description":"NOW you've got a story! This novella went from being a polite Victorian mystery to a late Victorian Sensation novella in one, quick chapter--and now has a direction and a focus. Could this guy really be the body guard? who is he? What happened to G? What forces are at work here? The world of your novella has suddenly become a whole lot more complex (as it now seems to involve the supernatural), and this provides you with a ton more to write about.
\n
\nI get the sense that G is someone you like, although others might hate her. There's something about the way you write about her attitude that gives this away. You have two neat characters to work with at this point...and now, perhaps, a third.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"24825833","dateCreated":"1275394162","smartDate":"Jun 1, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Misterfischer","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Misterfischer","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1259541818\/Misterfischer-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bhsnovellas.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/24825833"},"dateDigested":1532128362,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Credit for second deadline","description":"40\/40 (4000 words)","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"24805585","dateCreated":"1275328818","smartDate":"May 31, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Misterfischer","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Misterfischer","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1259541818\/Misterfischer-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bhsnovellas.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/24805585"},"dateDigested":1532128362,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Friday's post","description":"I can't wait for my OWN first glance at Georgiana! You've built her up to the the point where I don't know what to expect.
\n
\nI like the fact that you'll have three different people working together--or, more likely, at cross purposes. This should make for an interesting tangle. You've also done a really good job with the period details in your description of the house.
\n
\nI'm eager to get to know more of the characters, to start to fill out your cast. I feel as if I have a general sense of your narrator, but the others remain quite a mystery to me. I suspect this is coming, however. I'll try to be patient.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"24720535","dateCreated":"1274988502","smartDate":"May 27, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Misterfischer","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Misterfischer","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1259541818\/Misterfischer-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bhsnovellas.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/24720535"},"dateDigested":1532128362,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Thursday's post","description":"Terrific developments. The research you're doing has clearly been fruitful as the historical info fleshes out the story nicely. It makes it seem like a true, Victorian murder mystery (and I've ready many of them, so I know). You have the hang of the language and of the attitudes, and you certainly know how to develop a mystery plot.
\n
\nAs you move forward, try to keep the subplots going, too. The detective's friend is a good one, and I'm hoping you'll do more with this (actually, I know you will). How about a love interest? an enemy? The murder threat itself opens up lots and lots of possibilities, too. The case is a strange one. Was the drowning accidental? are the death threats connected to the drowning? who's making the threats? Lots to play with.
\n
\nI'm having fun following your plot.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"24516745","dateCreated":"1274658530","smartDate":"May 23, 2010","userCreated":{"username":"Misterfischer","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/Misterfischer","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1259541818\/Misterfischer-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/bhsnovellas.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/24516745"},"dateDigested":1532128362,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"opening","description":"What a fun beginning! I like how you meander towards the plot, not rushing but giving me a chance to casually pick up the background and a bit of your protagonist's character. Now your story is set up.
\n
\nAs you progress, you might want to do some very brief research on the period so you can bring in some appropriate details as you move forward. I also have a book of Victorian detective stories, if you're interested. Just let me know. Getting the job in this was is certainly unconventional, but who cares? It's clear you're interested in other things.
\n
\nThink about combining narrative and dialogue a bit more thoroughly. Otherwise the narrative sections start to seem long and the dialogue sections start to seem disconnected. You'll get the rhythm of it once you write more.
